Page 6 ACCIDENT PREVENTION COMMITTEE ENLARGED Early in 1949, an Accident Prevention Committee was organized to assist in the development of our safety program and if results are any indication, a good job was done by the Conmittec, is the year progressed, however, it became apparent that certain changes would be necessary in the set-up of the Committee and following careful consideration by all con- cerned the old Conmittee was dissolved and a new Committee organized. 'Members of the Accident Prevention Committee as it is now constituted are: Don Porter, Mill Manager, Chairman; representing local #665, Bill licKay, (President), Ted MeInnes, (Vice-President), and Morris Howe, (Secretary); Longlac Superintendents - Gordon Rowlandson, Joe Wig, Bert Laundy, Bill Borsum, Eric Heuser and Ron Faust; Plant Nurse, Betty Cunningham, Reg. N,, and Services and Safety Supervisor, Fred Soughton, A foreman from Pulp Department, Wood Handling, Engineering and Services is also eligible to attend each meeting and as new Department Safety Committees are organized, Chairmen also will become members of the Accident Prevention Committee, The first meeting of the re-organized Committee was held in the Conference Room on Monday afternoon, February 20th, The Chairman, Don Porter, outlined reasons for the re- organization and then covered, in detail, purposes of the Committee, The present accident prevention program was bricfly appraised and appeared to meet with general acceptance, Immediate plans call for the setting up of new Department Safety Committees and the next Accident Prevention Committee meeting, which Department Safety Committee Chairmen are expected to attend, will give due consideration to the functions of Department commi- tecs.
