Page 2 ° NOTES IN PASSING Y'know there really is a whole lot of happiness in this Town, I mean by real happiness, -= not just joy over some newly acquired toy or per- "THE PASSERBY" sonal property, -- but real honest-to-goodness happiness, This happi- ; ness is truly deep rooted because it shines out all over you good people, --And, we're not talking through the proverb%al hat, neither, because for some months now we have made a secret survey and have found nil hatreds and nil deep dislikes, --Sure, we'll admit that maybe you don't like the way that some person walks, or their viewpoint on certain matters, (this is entirely normal, you know), but you really wouldn't do that person any harm would you? Talking about surveys; --- why don't you run one on this business of happiness in our Town?? Here's what to do: just go around and watch people at 'dances and other public functions; see how they seem to be having fun; note the smiles; go over and talk to them; and when you're all finished go home and tabulate it all in your own mind and see if weltre not right. Go on, we dare youl! Let's look at it another way. And just think how much bétter it's going to be when we get all those little comforting devices around our homes, We are happy here,--not just because it's Terrace Bay, but simply because the peoplé who live here are the types who know how to be happy, and who would be happy any place, We love our wives and our husbands and our children, and we are proud of our neigh- bours,--so why not tell the world about it???
