Mart Kenney Plays Second Terrace Bay Engagement Mart Kenney and His Western Gentlemen rated as "Canada's Number One Dance Band" played an engagement in the Recreation Hall at Terrace Bay on Monday evening August 29th, With the band were the regulars, lovely Norma Locke, Roy Roberts and the Quartet. The band arrived in their special coach at 6340 p.m. prior to the dance and following dinner at Hotel Terrace, played from 10:00 pm, to 2: a.m, Following a light lunch at the Recreation Hall the orchestra left in their coaeh attached to train #1 at 2:48 a.m. Their present tour lasts until October 4th when they return to Toronto for the Borden Show, They plan to travel as far west as Victoria B.C. It was the band's second visit to Terrace Bay. "MAINTENANCE STRUCTURAL & SERVICES" Win Softball House League Title By scores of 11-8, 7-6 and M-4 "Maintenance, Structural and Services" took the first three games of a 9 out of 5 game series to defeat "Pulp Conversion" and thereby win the laurels in the 6-toam Softball House League operated this year at Terrace Bay. At the Mart Kenney dance Monday night, Don Gow presented the Fraser-Brace trophy, emblematic of Terrace Bay Softball Championship to Curley Hale amid loud cheers from those in attendance. Terrace Bay Residents to Consider Bowling Alley Proposals As indicated in this jpaper last week, a special meeting of all Terrace Bay residents will be held on Thursday evening September 1st in the Community Hall at 7:30 pPeMe At the meeting, a proposal will be presented by the Community Recreation Committee which, if adopted, will assure bowling alleys at Terrace Bay by early October. The principle decision to be reached concerms financing the $10,000 project over a 3-year period with alleys being paid for from current profits, A careful appraisal of anticipated revenue indicates that such obligations could be met. All relative facts will be presented for consideration at the Thursday evoning meeting and a good representative of local residents is urged. School Term Commences September 6th. Sehool re-opens in Terrace Bay on Tuesday, September 6th at 9am. New pupils will register in the principal's Office, others will go to their classrooms. Parents of children starting school for the first time, whether Kindergarten or Grade 1 are requested to please bring birth certificates or other evidence of age,
