The afternoon game was very close until the fifth inning, when the Terrace girls were leading by a score of 5 to 3, During the last half of the 5th the Rockettes succeeded in scoring 8 runs to cinch the game, scoring 3 more in the last of the 6th, making the final score 14 to 5, The evening game was a different story with the Rockettes using their star left- ° handed hurler, At the end af the 5th the Terrace girls were trailing by a score of 8 to 6, They succeeded in scoring 2 in the first of the 6th when Bea Fawcett slammed a home=run into left field with Mary Letain on base to tie the game, With the score still tied in the last of the 7th, Jean Lawrence, pitching for Terrace downed three pineh hitters to force the game into an extra inning. Terrace was held scoreless in the first of the 8th and with two out and one runner on second a line drive between lst and 2nd brought in the winning run for the Rockettes. One of the outstanding features of the game was the ex- cellent job done by Elizabeth Jour at left ficld, This game was the closest the Rockettes have come to losing this season and Terrace had them quite worried in the 8th inning, Considering that the Rockettes are nearing the end of their schedule and are in their prime, and the Terrace girls just played their third and fourth games this year on Sunday, the writer believes that our girls deserve to be congratulated on such a good showing, It is the intention of the management of the girls team to have as many outside teams as possible in Terrace Bry this year, and it is hoped that our team will receive all the support possible from the local fans, Batteries: Afternoon G:me - Rockettes - Creighton and Allen; Terrace Bay - Sinkins, Lawrence and Letain. Louis Kapitan pitching the nine innings showed steady control in allowing very few walks, The evening game, which proved to be a much closer contest was a thriller for every one in attendance. Louis Zack, another "Comet! hurler, dazzled the crowd by his terrific pitching. Harry Damp and Elwood Stephenson, the big guns of the "Gomets" each showed their hitting power in the evening game, Damp knocking a beautiful home-run, the only one of the two games and "Stevie" Stephenson hitting a triple bagger deep into left field. Gordon' Koeley also showed brilliant form in a beautiful double play from second to first base, The "Comets" are now steadying down to serious play and will soon be seen in action in the Thunder Bay District Softball finals,
