January 20, 1949 = Se Se en = HOCKEY NEWS North Shore League Terrace Bay's first North Shore Hockey League game of the season will be played on local ice next Sunday afternoon when the "Marathon Mercurys" will visit the community. Last Sunday's game at Marathon scheduled with Schreiber was postponed due to the mild weather, and the Eastern Division of the league will therefore get underway at Schreiber on Saturday night when the visiting team ~ will be 'Marathon. The Sunday afternoon game at Terrace Bay will get underway at 2:50 pm. and should furnish a brand of hockey that will be well worth seeing. . On Saturday January 29th at 8:30 p.m. Terrace Bay will meet Schreiber for the first time this season in Schreiber, and on Sunday January 30th the local boys will play a return engagement with the Mercurys at Marathon, 0-0-0 MEETING OF LOCAL #665 - JANUARY 26th There will be a general meeting of Local 665 in the old Hudson's Bay Store across from the Post Office on Wednesday, January 26th at 7:50 p.m. o-0-0 HOUSE LEAGUE HOCKEY Tigers, coached by Curly Hale, hold an undisputed lead in the local 4-team House League and they do so by virtue of a 6-4 victory over Barons scored last Friday night in a hectic battle which saw six penalties handed out including one misconduct. Tiger goals were scored by Blanchet, Ogilve, Parent, Lalonde, Mikus and Delaronde with assists going to Brady, McDonald and Delaronde. Baron goals were scored by Hanna (2), Marostica, and Holancin, Penalties: Brady (2), Gow (2), McDonald and Delaronde, On Monday evening Bombers took Red Birds into camp by a 7-2 count which saw Bill Sernesky turn in the best individual performance of the season with four goals and one assist. Other Bomber goals were tallied by Webb (2) and Ganja, with assists to Holancin (3) and Mollen, The two counters by Red Birds were tallied by Cavanaugh and Beaulicau with each taking credit for a goal and an assist. Penalties were handed 'out to Whitfield, Beaulieau, Henry and Galpin.
