CLG oa i SECOND CURLING SEASON UNDERWAY AT TERRACE B/Y The current Curling Season got underway - officially at Terrace Bay on Monday evening, January 3rd with a Novelty Bonspiel which will run through the better part of ten days. In all, twenty-four rinks are involved and with but a few minor changes, the rinks as now ' drawn will probably stay together throughout the regular season. Skips for the rinks are as follows: Bill Lowe, Bert Laundy, Terry Cochrane, Alfred McBride, Merril Shewchuk, Mrs, Rune Ostling, Glen Lumbers, Thor Olsen, H. S, "Ham" Craig, Harold Thompson, Alex MacDonald, Wiel Bamford, Gordon Dodge, Al McColl, Jack Wellings, Ruth Bangartt, Harold Marsh, Jack Johnston, Ernie Haight, Paul Boudreau, Doug Colquhoun, Jack Thompson and Jimmie Nicholson. In addition to the 96 people playing on the 24 rinks there are 18 spares which brings _ the total membership of the Terrace Bey Curling Club to 114. Curling facilities at Terrace Bay consist of a two sheet Curling Rink located in the Lower Camp at the west end of the Recreation Hall, The building which includes a heated waiting room with glass windows looking out on to the ice, was constructed for the most part by volunteer labour during the months of November and December in 1947, Material for the building was supplied by LongLac Pulp and Paper Company. 0-0-0 nOCKEY NEWS The first geme in the Terrece Bay House League is now scheduled for Monday evening, January lOth at 7:30 p.m, According to the revised schedule which is now being distributed, this game will be between Teams j/l1 and #4 coached respectively by Jim Clancy and Murdo Campbell. Other games scheduled for the balance of the coming week are as follows: Wednesday, January 12th at 7:30 pom. Team #3 (Coach, Curly Hale). vs. Team #2 (Coach, Gordon Sheppard), Friday, January 14th at 7:30 p.m. Team #4 (Coach, hiurdo Campbell) vs, Team #3 (Coach, Curly Hale) , In order to operate the House League effectively, the Executive of the Hockey Associa- tion has drawn up the following rules which will apply: 1. All games to commence prompty at times indicated, Any team not able to ice sufficient players at thet time will automatically forfeit that game to the opposing tcam, Games will consist of three 20 minute periods with intervening rest period optional at the discretion of the team captains concerned. In the event of 2 tie no overtime will be played. 2. For the present, teams are referred to by number only. On receipt of officiel name of each team the T.B,H.j. will issue a revised schedule. 3. Rules and Regulations of the C./..H.A. will be adhered to insofar as possible. 4, Dues of $5.00 must be paid by each player on or before January 15th, after which date players who are not in possession of a Membership Card will not be allowed to participate in further scheduled games. 5. Playoffs will take place in Merch and only the top three teams will be eligible, with the first place team having the bye. On Sunday afternoon, January 9th at 1:30 p.m. the Team which will represent Terrace Bay in the North Shore League will have its first official practice and everyone interested in making the team is urged to be on hand.
