From the time the warning signal was sounded by Fire Chief George Maitland it took just 46 seconds for 109 pupils to leave the building in a very orderly fashion. Briefly, the fire drill is conducted in the following manner. Following a warning of five or more short blasts there is a ten second pause, then a single blast is sounded at which time the pupils stand. Two additional blasts are the signal for pupils to move out of the school using both end-exits of the building. They march out on markers in a manner so arranged as to eliminate any possibility of interference with fire fighting equipment which would, of course, be immediately sent to the school in case of an actual fire. Those responsible for working out the details of the fire drill, including the Fire Chief, School Principal and teachers, deserve a great deal of credit, end the children are to be congratulated on the orderly manner in which they conducted themselves. 0-0-0 HOCKEY ACTIVITIES With the coming of colder weather, action is being taken to complete the organization of a House League at Terrace Bay and the North Shore League in this area. : At a meeting of the Executive of the Terrace Bay Hockey Association held last Tuesday evening, it was decided to call a general meeting of all persons who have indicated their interest in playing hockey at Terrace Bay this season, also prospective coaches, referees, timekeepers and hockey boosters, This meeting is scheduled for Sunday afternoon December 5th at 2:00 p.m. and will be held in the large Recreation Hall. The meeting will enable all hockey enthusiasts to hear a report on developments to date and it will also give everyone an opportunity of making suggestions. Consideration will be given to the formation of a "Boosters Club" for hockey at Terrace Bay, To date upwards of 70 persons, exclusive of youngsters, have indicated their interest in playing hockey or coaching and tentative plans cell for the formation of a 4-team House League from which players will be selected for the North Shore Hockey team which will represent Terridce Bay. Three other communities, Schreiber, Red Rock and Nipigon have indicated keen 'interest in the expansion of the North Shor@League and it is expected that a meeting of representatives from each community will be called in the near future to officially elect an executive and develop plans for the '48, - 149 season. In the meantime it is important that a large number should be on hand at the Recreation Hall next Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m, 0-0-0 BADMINTON CLUB PLANNING SOCIAL EVENING On Wednesday evening December 8th, following Wino te "regular badminton games which will be played as usual from 7:30 pom. to 9:00 p.m. , a social evening will be held by the Terrace Bay Badminton Club. The program being planned will follow the pattern set at the badminton wind-up last spring, and will include contests, group games, dancing, a sing-song and refreshments. All members of the Club are cordially invited to attend, The Badminton Club at Terrace Bay was organized in October '47 and last year had 68 members With an average of 30-55 playing each Wednesday night on the three courts laid out in the Recreation Hall. This year, membership has already passed the 70 mark and attendance has averaged more than 40 players per night since the season commenced September Rend. o-O0-0 BE CAREFUL.
