Across each tag in white letters on a red oval with a black border is the word DANGER. There is a space for the signature of the party installing the tag, also wording indicating that the tag is there for a very good reason. Someone is working on a machine or some piece of equipment or a valve has been closed for a purpose. Quite often when such a tag is installed a workman is depending entirely on it for his safety and in many cases for his life. Small wonder then that the tag also carries the wording "DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG. To do so without authority will mean immediate discharge". The reason for such a strict regulation is obvious. 0-0-0 FOR THE RECORDS A comparative accident statement covering the period from January 1 to September 30, 1948, published recently by the Ontario Pulp and Paper Makers! Safety Association shows LongLac Pulp and Paper Co. in drd position in Class "B" with 19 mills listed. During the month of October, "old timers" as well as "newcomers" on the LongLac payroll performed their duties throughout the entire month without a single lost time accident. In any mill, good safety records are established when everyone takes responsibility for preventing accidents by working safely. Working safely means a number of things - rules should be followed - chances should not be taken - unsafe conditions should be reported immediately to supervisors. By working safely and thinking safely, let's all do our part to make every day a safe day at Terrace Bay. 0-0-0 YOUNGSTERS ENJOYED HALLOWE'EN Despite a light rain which started shortly after they began meking their rounds, H:llowe'cn was celebrated in grand style by Terrace Bay youngsters. With the customary "trick or treat" sclutation, they appeared in every conceivable type of costume, and in a number of instancés were quite prepared with an impromptu concert or act. One thing which bears mentioning is the fact that there was no vandalism, which goes to prove that the young folk can have fun without destroying property. By the time next Hallowe'en rolls around, it should be possible to have a Community Hallowe'en Party for all the youngsters, sponsored by an organization or group of organizations, Such parties are a huge success in other communities and Terrace Bay would be no exception, eae Ee. : ieee 0-0-0 For Sale One Servel Refrigerator available immediately.
