Isbester 000 THE REASON FOR TERRACE BAY POWER INTERRUPTIONS Elsewhere in this issue there appears a notice to the effect that on Sunday August lst, there will be another power interruption at Terrace Bay between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. In view of this lengthy shutdown, and the fact that numerous power interrupt- ions have occurred during the past six weeks, particularly oh Sundays, an explanation is in order. In the first place, power interruptions have been scheduled on Sundays, since on thet day they create the least interference throughout the project as a whole. Secondly, the interruptions have been necessary due to the preparation required for a change-over from the temporary to the permanent power supply lines. Weather permitting, this change-over will take place Sunday August lst. Up to the present time, the Townsite has been supplied with power from the temporary sub-station in the mill area, the power for which has come from Cameron Falls over the 110,000 volt transmission lines of the Hydro Electric's Thunder Bay System. Under the permanent set-up the mill will continue to draw power over the same trans- mission lines as those now in use, since power from the Aguasabon generating station will feed into these lines. The recently completed sub-station at the Millsite will replace the temporary station used to date, Power for the Townsite (also from the Hydro's Thunder Bay System) will come, however, directly from the Aguasabon generating station once it is in operation, to a small transformer station in the Townsite, located on Highway #17 just west of the hotel area. From this station, power will be distributed through the town, It is interesting to note that once power is delivered by the Hydro Electric Power Commission to the sub-station in the town, distribution of the power throughout the Townsite becomes the responsibility of thé municipality of Terrace Bay, and as many people know, municipal electric systoms operate under The Power Commission Act on a non profit basis.
