Page 8 MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO ASSISTED The 12" water main from the Aquasabon River to the foot of the hill towards the mill was com- pletely filled with ice which broke the le" cast iron pipe. The failure of the pipe cut off our sprinkler systems and the source of supply of water for fire protection for the Millsite area. As soon as the break was discovered Friday noon, December 12th, the complete Fraser Brace force participated in the repair. Repairs started Friday afternoon and were contin- uous until Sunday noon at which time 850 feet of 6" steel pipe had been laid enclosed ina 3! wooden box filled with sawdust. The Hydro came to our rescue with a portable boiler which supplied steam heat for the temporary water line. We were without fire protection for about 48 hours, We would like to express our appreciation to the Fraser Brace organization and the Hydro for their hearty co-operation in helping us out of serious trouble. Great care should be taken with Christmas trees. Lighting trees with electric lights, doesn't completely eliminate the fire hazard, Makeshift wiring should be avoided. Tinsel "icicles" can short cirguit bare wiring and start fires. Inflammable decorations such as paper 4dood dads" and cotton snow should not be used, Stand the tree in a box of damp sand, this is a safe practice and the needles will not fall as readily, : Dispose of christmas wrappings as soon as possible - they are a fire hazard.
