Joan Ford, of the high school, won the gold medal in the class for high school solo, girls under 21, Marjorie Scott, a fellow-pupil, taking second place, David Pawson, of the high school, was awarded the gold medal for his singing of the ne- Bro spiritual "Deep River" as a bass solo, and Tom Sale, another high school pupil, won the gold medal for tenor solo.
