Frank, beloved husband of Gail. Loving father of Gina (Jason Carriere) and Mathew (Stephanie) and Luca (Mary Wakeford). Devoted Papa of Maya, Ella, Luke, Hudson and Nicholas. Dear brother of Margaret, Theresa, William, Peter, Clare and the late Michael. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, family and friends in here and in South Africa. Frank had a passion for his family, rugby, the game of golf and was an avid sports enthusiast. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street) on Thursday March 3, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 1150 Monks Passage, Oakville on Friday March 4, 2022 at 1 pm. The family wish to gratefully acknowledge the Adult Day programs at Acclaim Health, Burlington and Oakville, The Alzheimer Society, the Italian Club of Oakville and both the Emergency Department and Palliative Care Department of the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their care and support of Frank. Barton passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2022 after a long courageous battle with Glioblastoma. Born in Troy, NY he was the son of the late Howard F. Barton and Corinne Bombard and the late Clarence Bombard. For the past 52 years, he was the beloved husband of Maria (Lavecchia) Barton. Devoted Father to Melanie Girolami (Chris) of Brunswick, NY, Jason Barton (Danielle) of Waterdown, and Cora Barton of Oakville. He is the proud grandfather of Joseph and Mia Girolami, Chase, Jaxon, and Lincoln Barton. The brother of Melody O'Brien (Harold) Watervilet, NY, and Catherine Nealon (Scott) Johnsonville, NY. He was a doting Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Service has taken place at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Interment St. Jude's Cemetery. BAUER, Joyce September 17, 1934 - January 19, 2022 ------------------ Joyce, a dear friend and cousin, passed suddenly at the Oakville Hospital. Born in Detroit, Joyce returned to Glencoe, Ontario in 1938 with her parents, Herman and Emma Bauer, and older brother, Willis. After graduating from London Teachers' College, Joyce taught in Waterloo before moving to Oakville to teach for the Halton Board, including several years at Percy W. Merry School, where many long-time friendships were made. Joyce earned her B.A. from Wilfred Laurier University, spent a year on a teaching exchange in England, and acquired her Special Education Specialist certificate, after which she worked as an itinerant speech teacher for many schools in the Oakville area until her retirement in 1989. Joyce strongly valued being of service and was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, and was involved for many years with the printing of Braille Books, a Lutheran Church outreach project. In retirement, Joyce led an active volunteer life, spending 23 years as a valued friendly visitor for Acclaim Health, 18 years as a member of the Angela Bruce Chapter of the I.O.D.E., and was also a long- time member of T.O.P.S. Joyce enjoyed traveling, the theatre, concerts and spending time at her cottage in Wasaga Beach. She was a quiet, gentle woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice. SIMON, Ruth Catherine (nee Gordon) October 23, 1925 - February 17, 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ On Thursday, February 17, 2022, heaven gained another angel. Ruth Catherine Simon (nee Gordon), a longtime resident of Oakville, passed away peacefully at Billings Court Manor in Burlington at the age of 96. Her eight year battle with Lewy Body Dementia was fought with her usual dignity and grace. She is survived by her loving daughter Janice Hanslo (Leon) and her two special grand- daughters Christine and Jamie. She is predeceased by her husband of 20 years Heinz Simon, whom she shared a loving companionship with following the dear loss of her first husband of 36 years and high school sweetheart Jim Gordon. She is also pre- deceased by her brother Bruce Ahiers, sister Dorothy Crawley, parents Percy and Zilda Ahiers, and her beloved son-in-law Leon Hanslo who was taken from us too soon. Ruth treasured her family and her friendships dearly, and was a devoted member of her church. Her faith was her foundation and gave her great strength and joy throughout her life. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and deepest appreciation to everyone at Billings Court Manor who took such wonderful care of both Ruth and her family.
