As part of his lottery subscrip- tion, the Oakville man received the emails whenever he won some- thing. "I thought it said $22 plus one free play. And then I realized, oh, $22,000, that's fantastic," he said. "Then I realized there were more zeros. That's when I screamed in joy." Myles had won the $22-million jackpot. "It's really wonderful. I just keep giggling," he said. "It's life chang- ing. You feel like options have come to you to do good and to do good for your family." "You realize that my and my family's life has just changed in an instant." Myles received the email on his wife's birthday, so after finally real- izing the actual amount of the win, he told her he had a present for her. "She thought I was giving her one free play because it was on a separate line," he said. "It took her a little while to figure out what had happened." The father of two children who works in IT has been playing the lottery regularly for 20 years, but every now and then, he would for- get to buy tickets. So a couple of years ago, Myles signed up for a lot- tery subscription so he wouldn't miss any draws. "That was a good thing, as it turned out," Myles said. Despite playing the lottery for a couple of decades, he said the win still came as a shock. "You dream about it, but I don't think anybody expects to win," he said. "But somebody does win. It does happen." Myles had thought about what it would be like to win the lottery before cashing in his big prize. "You dream about buying a car or going on a vacation," he said. "One of the simple things I dreamt about in the past was, it's a Tuesday and I can just sit at home relaxing."
