7 | O akville B eaver | T hursday,January 27,2022 insidehalton.com Now more than ever, there areincreasing numbers of Canadians suffering from hearing loss. When this happens, many of the simple things in life can be affected from hearing your alarm clock in the morning, the birds chirping outside your window, or even the sound of popcorn popping at your local movie theatre. In response to local customer de- mand, HearingLife, Canada's leading local hearing care provider, has opened its 4th Oakville clinic in the North Oakville Medical Building at 3075 Hospital Gate. The clinic provides ac- cess to the most advanced hearing aid technology, caring clinical support, and the newest diagnostic equipment. As part of the new Oakville clinic grand opening, the HearingLife team is currently accepting nominations for a local resident in need to receive free hearing aids through the National Campaign for Better Hearing. Each hearing test booked at the newly opened clinic helps fund even more free hearing aid donations as part of the campaign. "In response to increased local demand, we're pleased to be open- ing another Oakville clinic so more community members have access to high-quality hearing health care," says Kara Sinaguglia, a HearingLife Oakville audiologist. "We're so excited about our expansion in Oakville and are honoured to be able to help so many community members improve their quality of life, not only with free hearing tests, but also with high-quality hearing health care from our dedicated staff. Additionally, we're thrilled to have the opportunity to gift another local community member in need with free hearing aids as part of our Cam- paign for Better Hearing." The National Campaign for Better Hearing educates the public about the effects of untreated hearing loss and the importance of making hearing tests part of the annual health regimen for people over the age of 60. The cam- paign challenges all Canadians to "Test Your Ears at 60 Years." Since 2015, more than $1.6 million has been allocated by HearingLife to support the distribu- tion of hundreds of free hearing aids to Canadians nationwide who cannot afford them. In 2021, 227 hearing aids were donated and HearingLife clinics also conducted an impressive 77,789 free hearing tests, resulting in a $4 allocation per test to the life-changing campaign. "Many people don't realize that feeling tired and irritable after long conversations, difficulty hearing con- versations amidst background noise, or the need to turn up the sound on your TV or car radio are all signs of hearing loss, "says Jillian Price, chief audiolo- gist at HearingLife Canada. "So, if you or your loved one is experiencing these hearing loss signs, we encourage you to book a free hearing test with us."
