For visitation and service details, please visit glenoaks.ca FARLEY, Esther December 12, 1934 - January 18, 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Esther Farley (nee Housden) on January 18, 2022 in her 87th year of life. We take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her loving husband, Paul (2016), sister Betty (2021) and is at home with God, her Saviour. Esther will be greatly missed by her brother in England Jack, nephews Phil (Ala), Jeff (Ann), Peter (Wanda) and her many nieces and nephews. Esther moved from England to Canada in 1956, where she soon after met Paul. They were married in 1964 and often travelled, visiting relatives and friends across the world. Esther was a proud member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Oakville and spent much of her time there volunteering and helping out with the Parish needs. Esther loved to stay active and you could often find her playing Badminton or swimming. She played euchre at the Seniors Centre in Bronte and was an avid reader. Esther loved hosting her family and friends for lunches, and she was always delighted at how well received her cooking skills were. FIGUEIREDO, Horacio Pereira June 12, 1930 - January 20, 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at age 91. Loving husband and best friend of Urania for 62 years, a wonderful dad to Joseph and father-in-law to Stacey, beloved Avô to Ella and Sarah. Fondly remembered by his brother, Honorato and his wife, Geraldina; sister-in-law, Lilliana Raposo and her husband, Jose; and sister-in-law, Conceicao Dias. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by his parents, Mariana, and José and his 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Horacio was born in Azores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Always a hard worker he began his start in Canada working on the railroad out West before making his way to Ontario and marrying his sweetheart, Urania in 1959. Building his life and family in Oakville, Horacio was an active member in his community through the St. Dominic choir, Knights of Columbus, and various charities. Later in life, when he wasn't spending time with his family, he loved playing checkers, making wine, gardening, and watching WWF wrestling (but with the sound off!). And we would be remiss if we didn't mention his love for numbers, finance and singing! Horacio was passionate about helping charities that helped feed the hungry. In honour of that work, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the Good Shepherd in Hamilton or Kerr St. Mission in Oakville. LEWIS, Melvin April 2, 1946 - Dec 31, 2021 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin peacefully on December 31st at OTMH at the age of 75. Melvin was born in Prince Edward County, Picton, Ontario. He moved to Oakville at the age of 18 and worked as a gardener as well as grounds keeper. He worked for Sheridan College for 39 years and worked hard to gain the title of Horticulturist, Landscaper, Greenskeeper. He was very passionate about his job and was very knowledgeable. Melvin is predeceased by his wife Francis Lewis (Coulas). Loving father to Patricia of Belleville, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents, and his brother Robert. Sadly missed by his siblings Albert Lewis of Northport, Carol Keller of Belleville, Dorothy Lewis of Kingston and Grace McAulay of Oakville (brother- in-law Lou). He has many nieces and nephews and relatives who remember him with fondness. Melvin happily enjoyed his past four years at OSCR. He enjoyed music, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, going for walks, watching the Toronto Maple Leafs. Melvin continued to do what he loved most - gardening. Melvin was a very endearing person with his genuine caring, generosity and kindness. Cremation has taken place and celebration will take place in the spring in Barry's Bay where he will rest in peace with his wife Francis.
