Ford, Kelly campaign for seat in Ward 4 With the retirement for health reasons of incumbent David Dietlein, there are two "newcomers" seeking the Ward 4 (Cartwright) seat on Scugog Council. But even though Joyce Kelly and Fred Ford have never run for & seat on Township council before, both have high profiles. A life-long resident of the ward, Mrs. Kelly said she has thorough knowledge of the ward and its ~~ issues, and promised to be a "team player who will study the facts of all issues before making a decision." Mrs. Kelly said the Township can hold the line on budgets by "spending just what comes in," and working to increase revenues through new assessment from new development. Mr: Ford said he wants to see more services for youth (teens) in the Township. Refusing to allow teens to hold dances in municipal halls, he said, is "forcing them to field parties." On the issue of the new multi. purpose facility at the Scugog Arena, Mr. Ford said he doesn't believg it will be able to pay for itself.
