=p" Scugog Citizen -- Wednesday, October 13, 1994 --27 4 Snowmobile Club prepares for new season "Charlie P.PS.C. This is an exciting time of the year as we anticipate another snowmobile season! We are now buying new sleds, dusting off the old ones, getting landowner permission forms signed, preparing trails, 3, Harper, would like to help out on trail preparation and also on our up- coming Snow-Show & Sale, call us, don't wait for us to call you. We must make these fund- raisers work in order, to pay for our clubhouse expenses, as all money from trail permit sales mugt go to development, and a host of other jobs. All of this to be done before the snow flies! I actually®had a person call me thé other day and volunteer to help out on some trail work. If you have any spare time and maint and grooming of the trails. The price of trail permits for the 94/95 season was set last year at the Convengion $80.00 before Dec.1 and $100.00 after Dec.1/94. These prices will remain the same for next year, | was told at Deerhurst this' year that 18 holes of golf (with cart) on their Pro Course cost $76.00. So $80.00 for a trail permit is quite cheap considering the O.F.8.C. calculates the cost last season of preparing and grooming of trails in Ontario was $343.00 per km. There will be 2 Driver Training Courses this year on Nov. 19 and Dec.10. If you have children between 12 & 16 or know of anyone wishing to acquire a Motortzed Snow Vehicle License, call me or Bill Harper for pre- registration. Novice Rep Hockey now split into Minor and Major teams Port.Perry Minor Hockey is pleased to announce the formation of their newly created first "A" Class rep. team called Minor Novice sponsored by - Compton Cable. This team is comprised of only 8-year old players and the Major Noviée is comprised of only 9- year olds. The idea of these Minor and Major teams was brought about by a suggestion from Bob Spencley who had coached the only Novice team Port Perry hase had for the past 15 years. He felt that the then Novice team, (consisting of 8 and 9-year olds) spent too much time travelling long distances. He also felt there was less opportunity for the younger players to have the chance to develop. Port Perry Minor Hockey petitioned the O M.H.A. to allow them to become part of the York/8imcoe conference as a Minor Novice team. The 'OM. HA. approval means Blazers From pagé 26 "one-sided affair" The final gdme of this special weekend proved to be a real hot battle between the 'Monsma Chargers and the Pizza Delight « Devils. A controversial last minute effort by the Devils fell short of the mark the Chargers took the 4-3 victory. The Chargers had a 2 goal and 2 assist performance by "scoring ace", Bill Bridge and singles from Lee Wilbur and John Robertson to capture the 2 points. John Mackey with 2 goals and Bill Foote with a single, kept the Devils close but empty-handed in the points column at the final buzzer. Numerous assists ete credited throughout the ve as teamplay becomes the fi to success once again in the SHL. A rather busy weekend and a few pounds of turkey are now a thing of the past as the shorter days PORT PERRY 985-8177 that the tegm must have a carded coach antl carded trainer. The Head Coach, Danter, is a carded cqach and trainer. PP.M.HA. is presently training Assistant Coach Jim Geer Yo be a carded coach and John Churchill (Assistant Coach) to be a carded trainer so they can take over if * * Mr. Danter is absent. Future P.P.M.H.A. plans are to exterid the Major/Minor system to the Atom level. These plans will precede these present Novice teams up through all hockey levels. At the Minor Novice "A" level, eompetition is tougher with opposition teamsjbeing more aggressive, faster, and skillful. An article in the October 4 edition of the Scugog Citizen about the Port Perry Fiddle Club said the Club rpeets on the final Wednesday of etch month On Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 , p.m. Compton Cable played an exciting game against Innisfil. Snowmobile insurance has gone crazy thls year. I urge &veryone to complain to their MP and to their insurance companies. Remember there will likely be a Provincial election in the spring. Also, be sure where your local councilors stand on snowmobiling before you give them your vote in November. The numbers of votes mean a lot to politicians! Do you know the man at the microphone?
