Cltleen -- Tuesday, September Neighbours edgy over possible re-zoning Neighbours who live near the Cadmus Country Club are ~ concerned over a re-zoning application that would allow a driving range and mini-putt on the 100 parcel of land just south of Cadmus. 'I have no problem (with the current use of the land) but will this driving range have lights? Where will the golf balls land and what about a buffer between the properties," said one land owner at a public meeting Monday afterncon in the Township council chambers. Others expressed similar concerns about what kind of future uses could be on the property and whether expanded uses would add to traffic congestion. The re-zoning by owners Emil and Tina Jovanovic would "recognize the existing restaurapt associated with the fish farm as well as permit a mini golf and driving range." Lawyer Michael Fowler, acting for Mr. and Mrs. Jovanovic said his clients owned the land since 1967 and began to develop it several years ago with three large trout ponds. There is currently a club- house/restaurant on the property and eventually the owners would like to build their own house. Residents who live nearby told Monday's meeting they have no objection to the current uses. But as one stated "we are concerned that by degree we could end up with a major public recreation facility on that property." Council is expected to make a decision in the near future. Any future development such "as driving range/mini putt would require a detailed site plan approved by the Township. Wants 8 apts. in house A re-zoning application to legalize eight apartments in a single family home in rural Scugog Township ran into stiff' ition from feighb PF {4 8. John Horack owns the three storey, 3200 sq. ft. house at 11561 Russell Rd. (just off Shirley Road) and he told a public meeting in the council chambers Monday afternoon there are already eight self- contained apartments in the house. That fact sparked an angry comment from Mayor Howard Hall who said "the issue here is eight apartments in a house (zoned) as a single family residence. And that's seven too many." Neighbours told the meeting the property has become run- down and there is a parking problem on the property. They urged council to turn down the re-zoning application. Mr. Horack said the apart- ments (the smallest is 14 by 16 feet) are occupied by single men. The Durham Health Unit is opposed to the re-zoning unless there is a complete septic system replacement. Scugog fire department will be submitting a written report to council.
