At Cartwright Central Public School the primary grades performed the play "Oh My Deer" and two invited guest speakers discussed environ-mental issues with different classes. At Greenbank Public School the brand-new environmental club held a bake sale to raise money for rainforest protection. Students at Port Perry High yd School made arrangements to see the play "Ruckus in the Rainforest" and are also making plans to do a clean-up during Pitch-In Week which members of the community are invited to take part in (call Together Respecting the Earth and the Environment member Sara Brown at 985- 9568 for details on TREE's plans). Why not make a pledge to start taking advantage of the tremendous amount of environmental material asking that resident stopping the use of chemical sprays to control weeds and pests. These volunteers hope this personal approach will help bring home the message that the use of cosmetic pesticides is something we can all choose "to avoid. Along with the "Dear Neighbour" letter, pamphlets with more detailed information on pesticide use, its risks, and the alternatives, are being provided.
