Greenbank Folk Music first concert a sell out The Greenbank Folk Music Society held ite first ever concert Saturday night as a sold out house enjoyed the music of Mose Scarlett accompanied by Ken Whitely. Just about 100 people were on hand at the Greenbank Community Hall to hear the silver-throated Scarlett and Whitely entertain with their mix of blues, jazz, ragtime, folk and country sounds George Rizsanyi, one of the founders of the Folk Music Society was more than pleased that the show was sold out. In fact, it had been sold out a couple of weeks in advance. "Our aim is to bring great quality music and good wholesome evenings of entertainment," he said The Society operates on a non-profit basis. After covering expenses for the musicians, the rental of the hall and seund tech, any money left over will go towards future concerts and/or improvements to the Greenbank Hall, he said The Society has nine concerts lined up this year, one a month from now until May. The next show is October 30 and will feature Fred J. Eaglesmith and the Flying Squirrels And on November 20, watch for two-time Juno nominee Jackson Delta Memberships in the Greenbank Folk Music Society are available at $15, and this entitles a member to a slight reduction in the cost of concert tickets. For information about becoming a member or how to get tickets for an up-coming concert, contact Mr. Rizsanyi at 985-1057. The Society is also looking for performers for opening acts.
