Mrs. Coates views the threaded needle as a tool to use in experimenting with colour and texture. She believes that fibre artists must approach their art form in a spirit of play, combined with lots of hard work and "reverse stitching", i.e. unpicking stitches to correct mistakes Currently, her favourite techniques include free machine embroidery and quiltery, and patchwork, or patchery - the Old English term for the action of patching. (Quiltmakers enjoy cutting up fabrics into small pieces, only to re-assemble them with painstaking care.) Coates has a particular interest in quick-piecing techniques using the rotary cutter, followed by tandem piecing on the sewing machine SA The Borelians Community Theatre invites both its membership and those interested in becoming members to its ANNUAL MEETING at Port Perry Town Hall THURSDAY, SEPT. 16th, 1993 The meeting will start at 7:30 PM Light refreshments will be served EMS CLTIFLOORING 126 WATER ST.
