my» 10 -- Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, April 27, 1993 Plans proceed for boathouse in the park The Scugog Boathouse Committee which was formed last February, has prepared conceptual plans for a boathouse to be located in Birdseye Park. The boathouse, when completed will allow rowing and canoeing programs to be offered in Port Perry. It is estimated that the boathouse can be constructed at a cost of about $35,000. This assumes that most of the construction will be done by volunteer labour. The boathouse will be 80 by 40 feet grail rea 1993 te AIVERBOAT a] {ol QE Te ]) OBEN Daily Luncheon Bpecifis [Tis yey Sunday Evening f Na in area and will be mainly of block construction. A fundraising campaign will start within the next week aimed at raising enough funds to get the project started. The major fundraising effort will consist of a "Buy a Block" program. Three thousand blocks are being offered for sale at a cost of $5.00 a block. It is further hoped that local businesses will become involved in the fund raising efforts by making either a monetary contribution or by ACRENY This Sunday, May 2nd, Karaoke Old-fashioned FISH & CHIPS, 2 FREE MUNCHIES Fridays from 4 to 6 PM donating construction materials. Tax deductible receipts can be issued for any donations over $100. A grant application will also be made to Wintario for a portion of the boathouse costs. However, with the current budget cutbacks within the Provincial Government, the chances of success are not high. If the fundraising activities progress well, it is hoped that construction on the boathouse could begin later this summer.
