SHL teams set for Super Sunday The fans were "treated" to exciting games on Easter Sunday as the eight teams jockeyed for positions in the Championship Games on April 18th. Once again, the league has achieved balance on every team as it came down to the final minute of the final game to determine the last play off berth! Game one saw the Harrison Blazers and Crandell's Gamblers battle it out to avoid the famous"Bowl Game". Although the game stayed close for the first two periods it was the Gamblers who pulled away in the final frame to register a 5-2 victory. Gambler goals came from Darcy Milligan with two and singles by Ken Jeffrey, Rob Evans and Bryan Norton. Assists went- to Ray Zaparanuik with two and singles to Milligan, Samis and Dale Bronson. Blazer replies by Willy Edwards from Gary Lance and then Lance from Edwards and "Legend" Sheehey pleted and Rick Hope, and then Dave Dickson from Rick Hope. However, it was the Hawks who came battling back in the third period on goals by Ed Olsen from Mike "Disco" Driscoll and Brian Cowie, and then Cowie form Driscoll. With the Hawks needing the win, they were forced to pull their goalie and this allowed the Comets to register the 3-2 victory on an empty net tally by Rick Hope from Mark Jobb and Dave Dickson. Game four daw the Van World Sharks/meeding to "take a bite" out of the Fitzgerald Clippers tp gain a spot in the "B" Final The Clippers jumped out to a two goal lead on a beautiful goal by Carl Fitzgerald from Brad Hurst and "Roc" Owen, and then Richie Lefort from Fitzgerald and Hurst. Ken Harman in the Clipper net had a busy day as the "Shark attack" came on in the second and third periods. . Bob Beveridge for the Sharks scored from Wayne Fox and Rick Campbell. Then with just the scoring. Game two proved to be a physical outing as the Taylor Aces handed the Pineridge Phantoms a 3-1 defeat to make the Phantom play off series complete! Richard Huggins filled in well for Troy Glazier in the Phantom net but couldn't contain Dwayne Bronson, Fred Moffatt and Jason Warner who had the Ace markers. Assisting for the Aces were Moffatt and Ken Little with one each. The lone Phantom goal was scored by Todd Wilbur on a "nifty play" from Rick Olaisen and Lee Steeves. Game three had the fans buzzing as the J+D Hawks played the Compton Comets for the right to the "A" Division Game next week. Tempers got a little frayed in this one as the Hawks watched the Comets take an early lead on goals by Glen Hudson from Mark Jobb Fun Skate Sunday at the Arena The Scugog Arena Board will be holding a Fun Skate on Sunday, April 18 and everyone is welcome. The skating starts at 4:00 PM and runs to 9:00 PM. There will be no charge for this Fun Skate so it should be a great way for families to enjoy time together. Members of the Junior C MoJack hockey team are expected to show up to skate with the youngsters and Scugog councillors have been invited as well. Make a note of Sunday, April 18 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Bring the whole family and: enjoy a Fun Skate at the Scugog Arena. 27 seconds left and the Shark cage empty for the extra attacker, Campbell won the draw to Beveridge and the game was tied at 2-2. With just 1.1 seconds left on the clock, Bob Strickert made a fine glove save as the Clippers pressed, to preserve the tie and give the Sharks the "B" Division game next week! With 30 games now complete, it comes down to the four Championship Games next week and a summer full of "Bragging Rights™ The "D" Division(Bowl Game) Final for the Compton Trophy at 8 a.m. is between the Pineridge Phantoms and the Harrison Blazers.
