The Canadiens edged out the Leafs by a score of 3-2. Tyler Houthuys scored 2 of the Canadiens' goals with Emma Marshall racking up their third. Scoring for the Leafs were David Halward and Mark Morrison. The Y's Junior Floor Hockey Program is open to everyone 6-8 years of age. We meet every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at R.H. Cornish P.8. Anyone interested in joining us should call the YMCA office at 985-2824. Monday, November 2nd's first Intermediate game of the night saw the Golden Rods meet the Blue Bombers. It was a hard fought battle but the Golden Rods came up with the win, 8-7. The first period ended in a tie with one goal for the Blue Bombers by Craig Cannon and one for the Golden Rods by Chris The second period saw the Golden Rods pull ahead 7-4. Dylan Ferguson was in net for this game, but didn't have a lot of work as Port out shot Uxbridge 32-10. Scoring for Port Perry was Kevin Gray with a hat trick, Matt Hobbs (2), singles for Greg Thompson, Trevor Smith, Matt Phillips, Brad Morton, and Kent Taylor.On the weekend the team travelled to Omemee to participate in their first tournament and came home with the "D" championship. The team played excellent hockey in the first game and ended up losing in overtime. Millbrook came back with two quick goals but before the end of the first period Jon Jamieson had tied up the scoring with assists to Matt Hobbs and Gord Bentley. Jon Jamieson scored our final goal with only 36 seconds left in the game. Assists went to Trevor Smith and Todd Parry. The team went into a 5 minute sudden death, and with only 40 seconds left in overtime Millbrook was able to slip one past goal tender Jamie Trick. This was an excellent effort by all players but unfortunately two of our players took major penalties and that put them out of the tournament. In the second game we were tohad : Nor and again we had a hard fight to the finish. Brad Morton got our first goal on a lone effort. But Northminster went ahead by one before Greg Thompson tied the game with his excellent action Golden Rods with Eric Bird, Chris Langford, Jeff Kane and Brad Emmerson each scoring one. Evan Bertrand was top scorer for the Blue Bombers with 4 goals, 2 in the second period and 2 in the third. Kevin Duncan scored the Bombers other 2nd period goal. Adam Youmans fired in the Blue Bombers 7th goal and Eric Bird scored the Golden Rod's last goal to give them the win. The second Intermediate game of the evening pitted the Red Wings against the yet to be named "Green Team." The Red Wings won this one 8-2. Michael Wiseman and Chris Murphy each scored one for the Wings. Darryl Dalton, Jonathon Rogalski and Tyler Mark were able to fire in 2 goals each tb give the Red Wings their total 8. The Green Team fought hard throughout the game but were only successful in getting 2 goals past the Red Wing's goalie. Dustin Bowes and Anthony Beauchamps were the scorers for the Green Team. B's playing well effort in front of their net. Gord Bentley made the initial shot and picked up an assist for his work. Jon Jamieson scored the final goal with a high quick shot with assists to Todd Parry and Greg Thompson. Unfortunately Northminster scored late in the game to win it 4-3. Dylan Ferguson played between the pipes and made a number of excellent saves throughout the game. The Techstars went into their final game against St. Alphonsus and our boys looked too tired to even skate, but their valiant effort again took them to overtime play. Matt Phillips had a great game and scored twice for the "Stars" Daryl Moase, Brad Morton and Greg Thompson scored our other goals. Assists went to Jon Jamieson (3), Matt Phillips, Brad Morton, Kevin Gray and Todd Parry. The winning overtime goal was Greg Thompson's. Jamie Trick played a great game in net.
