LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Baseball coach looks back on a summer's "field of dreams" To the Editor: For starters, Saturday, August 14, wasn't your typical weekend kind of a day. Property a real eyesore To the Editor: Ths may seem like a strange letter 10 write to the editor of a newspaper, but | am writing in the hope that the right person will see it and do something about it. My concem is the property surrounding the vacant building at the main comer in Caesarea. This property has been left to grow wild. It must be very frustrating 10 the home owners in that area who wark hard 10 te gy hast wg. homes and properties appear. That must have really impressed the visitors. 1 pass this comer at least twice each day and | always notice how terrible that property looks. Doesn't anybody else notice it? Disgusted over theft of flags To the Editor: 1 am writing this letter to pass on my condolences to the parents of the inconsiderate bastards who stole the flags ffom my front yard on Thursday August 7. I'll bet the parents would be real proud to think of how much nerve it takes to turn oneself into a thief. The thieves think this machination makes them more masculine, but it only serves to tell the world what they really are: ungrateful, coward- ly, deceitful, with no respect for their parents or themselves. 1 will put up a reward for information leading to the return of my flags. Give me a call at 985-2870. Yours truly, 15 WATER ST., PORT PERRY 983-3281 wear RIVERBOAT Faced with the daunting task of playing two full games back to back (11am. & 1 p.m.) against the boisterous never-say-die Techstar team and the formidable favorites from Greenbank, Perfect Heating, the Ray Rankin Carpentry team proved their inestimable resolve with 2 very exciting and very deter- mined wins. Back to back. 15-13 and 12-11. Respectively. Respectably. ) Each member of this remarkable team, each a class act in his own right, played hard and loose on such an important day to create baseball memories to cherish a life- time. As their coach I couldn't be more proud, as their friend I couldn't be happier for all of them. Over the length of a season which produced exhilarating highs as well as moments of doubt the end result was that a bunch of fun loving boys became a team of base- ball playing, fun loving boys with a common goal & purpose to achieve.
