Halton Student Transportation Servic- es (HSTS) announced on Sept. 23 that it was experiencing a shortage of school bus driv- ers, which is affecting operations. This la- bour shortage is being experienced at boards across the province and has result- ed in delays at some local schools. "We are aware of the impact this driver shortage may have on some families and we appreciate their patience and under- standing during this challenging time," said David Colley, general manager of HSTS. Parents and guardians are encouraged to sign up for delay and cancellation notifi- cations on the HSTS website (halton- bus.ca). A list of bus delays is also posted on the HSTS website. As a result of the shortage, the organiza- tion is now requesting interested individu- als apply for a position as a bus driver. "We are fortunate to have more than 400 caring professional school bus drivers in Halton. We hear from our drivers about how school bus driving is a very rewarding and fulfilling part-time career. Thousands of Halton families rely on our school bus drivers to deliver their children to and from school safely. The positive impact they have on our community is truly re- markable," said Colley.
