Roughly $64,000 in bursaries has been awards to 32 students, including Garth Webb Secondary School's Danika Lau -- winner of the Bill Barnes Award and Edu- cation Award -- and Samantha Rutherford of Oakville Trafalgar High School, who was presented with the Donna Messer Service Above Self Award. Danika plans to study science and psychology at the University of Toronto. "During my studies I plan to learn about the human impact on the environment and how to change peoples' views and habits to find practical solutions to protect it," Danika said. Samantha plans to study med- ical sciences at the University of Western Ontario. She intends to use her education to advance sci- entific innovations through re- search positions in university, and ultimately contribute her own research and innovation to science. White Oaks Secondary School's Arsian Tariq received the education award in memory of Michael Gauthier.
