The auto giant an- nounced last week that 25- year veteran executive Bev Goodman will take on the leadership role. She replaces Dean Sto- neley, who's been appoint- ed to the newly created po- sition of general manager, North America truck, Ford Motor Company. "During a year of ex- traordinary challenges, Dean led the Ford of Cana- da team to its 12th consec- utive year of sales leader- ship and now brings his ag- ile leadership approach and strong customer focus to the critical role of main- taining Ford's dominance in the North American truck market," said Kumar Galhotra, Ford president, Americas and Internation- al Markets Group in a press release. "At this time of rapid change in the auto indus- try, Bev demonstrates a deep understanding of what matters most to our customers now, and in the future. She also has a prov- en track record of working collaboratively with our dealer partners and a com- mitment to innovation as Ford accelerates its efforts to deliver high-quality, high value vehicles and services." Ford staff said as presi- dent and CEO, Goodman will lead Ford of Canada's operations across the country, including a na- tional headquarters, three regional offices, three vehi- cle assembly and engine manufacturing plants, two parts distribution centres, two research and develop- ment sites, and three con- nectivity and innovation centres. Ford employs approxi- mately 7,000 people in Can- ada, while an additional 18,000 employees work in more than 400 Ford and Ford-Lincoln dealerships. "I look forward to em- bracing new ways to serve our customers across the country as we introduce iconic vehicles such as the Mustang Mach-E, Bronco and F-150 hybrid," said Goodman in a press re- lease. Ford officials said Good- man began her career at Ford of Canada as an in- tern on the finance team and over the next 25 years served in a variety of func- tions, including finance, parts and service, sales and marketing, and most recently was Ford of Cana- da's director of marketing communications. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton issued a statement on Feb. 1 congratulating Goodman on her promo- tion and wishing all the best to Stoneley, noting he was integral in the historic agreement and investment by Ford Canada that will transform the Oakville As- sembly Plant into a bat- tery-electric vehicle manu- facturing facility.
