It was the happy conclusion to a contest that had been carried on among the class, and which proved to be most successful. The generous supper provided and the spirit on which it was given by, 'the losing side, proved them good sports, and illustrated the proverb that it is "more blessed to give than receive" as one of the speakers men- tioned. The tables were tastefully decorated in pink and white and bountifully spread for the members of the class and lady teachers of the Sunday School, numbering about eighty in all. After supper there were several speakers who expressed their appre- ciation for the good time enjoyed, for the work of the teachers in the S. S. and for the support of the L. B. C. evidenced in all the activities of the church and Sunday School. The readings by Miss Marion Goode, the solos by Miss Vera Miller 'and the piano duets by Misses Helen Willard and Val De Hortop, greatly enhanced the evening's entertainment. One authority observes: "In many parts of Canada the farmer is still sold fertilizer as recommended by local agents instead of buying it on the basis of his own knowledge of its proper use. As never before this would apepar.to be a good time to consult the soil and crop authorities at the Agricultural Colleges.
