You may go through' the province of Ontario and rarely find a town the size of Port Perry with as fine a~lot of cement sidewalks as we have. They have cost this town thousands of dol- lars, yet quite a few of them are rendered very unsuitable for the pur- pose for which they were made, be- cause the overhanging grass that is allowed to grow on each side of the strip of cement, leaves only a narrow footway with practically no room for passing. It wet weather or dusty weather this grass is a great nuisance and the person who has the misfor- tune to walk along the streets where the grass is allowed to grow in this manner, is compelled to put up with wet or dirty clothing. Householders should not be required to be compelled to keep the sidewalks and surroundings trim in front of their property. Their own self respect and courtesy should look after this matter. Many people are very fine about looking after their own comfort and that of others and their work in this particular is much appreciated by those who use the walks. Other people are very neglectful. Cutting this grass is not a heavy job if it is done regularly. DIED MARSHALL--At Port Perry, on Thursday, June 4th, 1931, Andrew Marshall, in his 80th year. ful constitution. = and old. i .
