Right on the heels of an announcement last week that Irvin Wotton of this city had caught the biggest bass of any member of the Oshawa Angler's Asso- ciation this year, a 3% pound small- mouth specimen, comes the news that Herb: Smith had pulled out a large mouth bass weighing 71/4 pounds, and measuring 23% inches long with 17 inches girth. It was caught on a rod and line. Cliff James also caught a beautiful small-mouth bass on Satur- morning weighing 4% pounds. itn af pm AN ARENA FOR OSHAWA Oshawa Times The announcement that a committee has been appointed by the Oshawa Chamber of Commerce to investigate the possibilities of establishing a skating and hockey arena in this city will be welcomed by a great majority of citizens of the community. The move is a very timely one, for as mat- ters stand now Oshawa is in an un- _enviable position. It would be hard to find @nother community in Ontario of even 10,000 population without its hockey and skating arena, for in the winter months this seems to have be- come one of the essentials of Can- adian life.
