Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Carruthers and family, of Glen Major; Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Peters, Port Perry, took a week end trip to Cooper's Falls and visited with Miss Edith Peters, who is teaching there. The party was pro- vided with a sumptuous dinner by the hostess, Mrs. McIntosh. That part of the County is very beautiful at] this time of the year to any one lov- ing nature--trees in all their beauty; rocks, rivers, log houses and winding roads. Returning by way of Orillia the trip was very much enjoyed by all, Semmes) Of The Band Makes a Suggestion On Friday evening of this week the Port Perry Band will give an open air concert at the Band Stand at the foot of Queen st. The program will be: March--Down Main Street. Waltz--Crystal Currents. March--National Emblem Songs--Old Favorites. March--Sons of the Brave. Selection--Old Ireland. Song Cornets--Silver Threads. Serenade--Sweetly Dreaming. It has been suggested that the Band hold weekly open air concerts in town on Thursday evenings and that the merchants keep their stores open on that evening during the summer months. We understand that the sug- gestion is being adopted by the mer- chants, What remains is that the Town Council give a grant to the Band to pay the Bandmaster. This is a good move and should be popular with the country people who do business here. aia) pin Music lovers will be delighted with H.M. Royal Air Force Band of Eng- land, which will be in attendance throughout the' whole fourteen days of the 1928 Canadian National Exhibi- tion. Mrs. Bentley, the Regent, presided, 'and considerable business was transacted. The decoration of the graves of the ex-service men who lay in Pine Grove Cemetery, was arranged for Monday, June 18th, at 7 p.m. It was also decided to discontinue the upkeep of the Public Tennis Court and donate the outfit to the school Twenty-five dollars was voted to the National War Memorial which is just about completed. The annual picnic for the members of the Chapter was arranged for Fri- day afternoon June 22nd. Mrs. F. W. Brock kindly extended an invitation to picnic at her cottage.
