OOO AN UNFRIENDLY LAW A member of the Executive of the Motor League, through the press, is strongly advising motorists to give no one "a lift," no matter who he or she may be, while driving along the high- way. If the pedestrian happens to be a stranger it will be much safer to let him remain being a pedestrian. We have read how, in oldén times, people entertained angels unawares, but it may happen that the stranger may be the very opposite of an angel, so it may be a dangerous thing to allow "him in your car. But an acquaintance or friend may be glad to accept an invitation to ride in your car, or he may even ask for a ride, and in such cases it is very hard to refuse him, Tasty | Cut Macaroni, 10 oz pkg. Phone 152 | and he may consider you meanness personified. But should you have an accident and the person whom. you have favored with a ride be injured or killed in the accident, the law will, hold you responsible and liable for heavy damages. A.number of such cases have appeared in odr law courts and it is only recently where a suit was entered in one of our courts in which 4 woman sued her sister for heavy damages as a result of injuries sustained in a motor accident. It seems that this is a law that should never have been placed in our statute books, but so long as it is there a motorist should hestitate before giv- ing a person "a lift" along the road.
