The earlier portion of the day was spent in class instruction--of the various parts comprising the Empire, its government and reasons for its greatness. Patriotism wad stressed and the flag eulogized. In the afternoon, the classes were massed and a programme presented: The pupils gave a very interesting and instructive performance of pat- riotic songs, a, toast to. the Empire, an ode to the Union Jack, answers to questions relating to thé Empire, a flag dance by the First Class, and other dances by' the other forms. Rev. Mr. Jarrett addressed the pupils, staff and visitors, on the pop- ulation and area of the British Em- pire, whait-it stood for, the measuring of the flag and what it symbolized. A very appropriate story of the part each one should play in empire build- ing, concluded a spirited and pleasing effort, to which all listened with rapt attention and thé hearty appreciation of ewhich was: expressed ,by: a most] vigorous and continuous clapping of hands by the scholars. Mrs, -J. Nasmith, Regent of the Daughters of the Empire, spoke briefly to the pupils and the function was concluded with "God Save the Kings a Auction Sale D.
