Deceased had been troubled with his heart for some time, and was in the habit of dropping into Mr. Switzer's blacksmith shop to rest on his way down town. This morning he went in as usual and sat in a chair by the forge. After awhile he got up and then collapsed. Medical aid was at once called, but he died within a few minutes, Deceased had been a resident of Port Perry for many years, and was for a long time employed in S. Jeffrey & Son's harness factory. Of late he has been with Mr. Rogerson, and in the summer he looked after his boat- house, where boats were to be had for hire. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. John Rolph and his brother Percy, in their sudden bereavement. renee) prem HIGH SCHOOL WINS In the initial hockey game of the season between the local intermed- iates and the High School Hockey team, the latter won with a score of 2-0. The Church Union Debate held on December 19th. was tactfully and courteously 'handled by Dr. E. A. Henry and Rev. D. A. Duncan, both of Toronto. There was a fair sized audience whose decision upon this delicate and vital question has not yet been rendered. One interesting feature of Mr. Spinks' growing young men's Bible Class is the organization of a hockey team from which more will be heard later. The Young Ladies' Bible Class pre- sented their teacher with a fountain pen as a Christmas token of their appreciation. During the Christmas vacation the inmates of the Manse have their hearts gladdened by the presence of two of their sons with friends from the North Land.
