U CONVENTION | ' The 20th Convention of the W. C . T. U, of the Counties of Durham and Ontario was held in Simcoe Street Methodist Church, Oshawa, on Thurs- day' June 19th. v At the morning session the County President, Mrs. Stalter, occupied the chair. At this session reports of the County Superintendents were given, and committees were appointed. The reports were very encouraging. A great deal of work has been done by the Department of "Flower, Fruit, and Delicacy," in visiting the sick and shut in, and supplying delicacies, and necessaries where required. There was an excellent report from the Superintendent of Moral Educa- tion and Mothers' Meetings by Mrs: Witterick, of Oshawa, The Department of Law Enforce- ment and Citizenship had received a good deal of attention. Mrs. Beall, of Whitby, related some very interest- ing experiences in helping to make good Canadians of the foreigners who reside in the County Town. Mrs, 'Beall said that a really human inter- est in the lives of these strangers almost always awakens a desire for a higher standard of living and a better citizenship. The Department of Anti- Narcotics and Scientfic Temperance Instruction has been emphasized, and the educat- CHIROPRACTIC is a science that will show you proof to support your faith. It has helped many people back to sound health by adjusting the subluxations of their spine that interfered with nervous energy reaching every part of their bodies. ONTARIO ive part oi she work encouraged by the presen.auion or medals and other prizes tor the writing of essays. Travellers' Aid work and Willard Hall have both been supported. First, last and always .is Evan- gelistic work. Every meeting is opened and closed with devotional exercises. The White Ribbon Army know that 'more things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." At the opening of the afternoon session, a Memorial Service was con- ducted by Mrs, * Wagner, of Port Perry. /Ihis was followed by a paper on "Education and Prayer" by Mrs, F. G, Park, Oshawa, The President's address was ably given, recalling the good work done by the local unions throughout the Counties, and inspiring interest and hope for the future. Mrs. Reddick, of Toronto, was the speaker for the day, and gave excel- lent addresses both afternoon and evening. She deplored the possibility of a plebiscite on the O. T. A, and urged the women to work and 'pray for the continuation of the Act, and its 'better enforcement. The report of the Provinces where they have Government control, shows that con- ditions are worse there now than in the days of the open bar. Mrs, Red- dick urged that every effort be made to have the facts placed before the people, both by using the press, and holding public meetings. She also suggested that the W. CT. U. enlist the co-operation of other organiza- tions in the work of temperance re- form. Resolutions of appreciation were passed, expressing thanks to the editors of the local papers for their hearty assistance, and to the Curtis rublishing Company for the splendid prohibition 'articles which have ap- peared in the Ladies' Home Journal. Oshawa friends provided excellent entertaiment, and good musi¢ was rendered at both sessions. At the suppér a brief program of speeches was given by local ministers and a representative of the press. The election of officers resulted as follows: Hon. Presidents, Mrs, H. A. Crosby of Uxbridge, Mrs. E, E. Starr, of Whitby, Mrs. A, J. Stalter, Oshawa. President--Mrs, S.
