Richard and Mrs. Rich- ard, is making a wonderful motor trip. He was in Port Perry on Mon- day and had travelled 8900 miles in sixteen days, starting from Portland, Oregon. On the way he had to cross the Wyoming desert, and had a num- ber of interesting experiences. He called on Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Harris while in town. His mother, Mrs. Richard, of Toronto, accompanied him as far as Kingston, where they will visit his sister. Mr. Richard has quite a journey in front of him, yet, as he has to be in Wilmington, Ill. within a couple of weeks. You can hear them talking of the these days. ------ (es ROAD PROGRESSING The building of the cement road is going along famously. The laying of cement has been in actual opera- tion now since Monday morning. The cement mixer is an ingenious contrivance, and is a great labor saver. .The gravel is hauled to the machine in dump carts, is dumped on to a huge shovel, four bags of cement are dumped in with the gravel or stone and the whole thing is. then tipped up and poured into the hopper. Long iron piping conveys the water to the mixer and in a few minutes the mixing is done, the travelling bucket is filled and the contents are emptied on the road, upon the surface of which reinforced wiring is placed in great sheets about 5 x 10 feet. --D---- DECORATION SERVICES The annual decoration services at Pine Grove Cemetery will be held on Saturday, July 6th, at 2.30 pm.
