We had the pleasure of visit- ing Mr. Ettey's Greenhouse one day last week, and what can be seen there while passing throu them one would imagine that you were in mid summer, to see everything in full bloom. Jan 81 ae (J (pereeeeeene MR. A. M. OVERHOLT, OF BRANTFORD, SAYS: At the Urban School Trus- tees' Association gathering, held in the City of Brantford, Ont., A. M. Overholt, Principal of the Brantford High School, gave ex- pression to his personal ienceina remarkabl@statement. He said that while there was no doubt that the' enforcement of the Adolescent Act had bettered conditions, the Ontario Temper- ance Act had been an even greater factor, and that from his observations he was convin- ced that the enactment of the Ontario Temperance Act had meant more money in the fam- ily wherewith to give ambitious boys and girls secondary school education. It had alee reduced the necessity for others besides the head of the family contrib- uting to the home budget, and allowed children to remain in school and carry their education farther than if they were forced to go out and earn money to asgist their parents. The world has come into a highly specialized age. It might be said that, "all things being equal" those with equipment would force the less favored to the wall, but every day is prov-| - ing that equipment and develop- ment of the lesser original en- dowment is going ahead of the greater but undeveloped brain power. One of the greatest tragedies of the present hour is the fight of unequip youth for ju Honoree foothold in an equip, age. The Ontario Temperance Act is the Jrestost protective piece of legis tion of the vital inter- ests of Ontario's children and youth that has ever been enact-| ed in the Province. But the Moderation League would tear | this shield to atoms for the sake | of the filthy lucre of the liquor traffic.
