Notes Miss Ada Ward, 'brilliant English ntertainer, will give a lecture in the n Hall, under the auspices of the 'oman's Patriotic Association. Miss ard has been at the Front and gave inments for the boys in the genches. Particulars as to date, etc. iter. * The monthly meeting of the W. P. "A. will be held in the basement of the esbyterian Chnrch, on Thursday, \ April 4th. Program and afternoon \téa will be provided. Seriously Wounded . Word was received on Monday that Lieut Frank Spence was seriously wounded In the leg. Badly Gassed . Mr. C.L. Vickery received word "Mast Saturday that his son, Lieut. Clar- .ence Vickery, has been badly gassed. . Later reports state that Mr. Vickery ' has. been taken to the hospital in . Manchester, Eng., and is improving. Easter Services Special Union Easter services will . be held in the auditorium of the - Methodist: Church next Sunday,March © 81. Itis expected that the building _ will be crowded, as, in addition to the | fact that both Rev Mr Black and Rev Mr Elliott will speak, the united Follick, have prepared an unually fine program of Easter music. Union Servics No movement has received a better "welcome than the Union Services of the past two months in which the Methodists, Presbyterians and Bap- tists took part. There is very general regret that they are to be discontinued after next Sunday. Fortunately for the success of these services, the ministers in charge did all in thelr power to remove any. thing that would indicate a spirit of ~ vrivalry, and this good example, to- . gether with the very evident desire on sthe part of the Union Committee to «do everything possible to promote #iarmony, created a fine spirit of fel- fowship, and did much to silence wnost of the objections to church #inion which arose from a lack of Winowlédge of the actual working of a amion of the local churches. . The, services:have been an inspira. " tion and will be remembered with ¢ ¥ pleasure. The question arises as to whether union services could be contin- ued at stated times--say one Sunday _ sn the month--until such times as it will be most advisable for a real "organic church union. These services could be made of special interest in _ the matter of both music and speaking In any case it is to be hoped that the Union Committee will not be dis- nded, as if is quite probable that e shall find it advisable to hold "anion services again next winter. ' Charter Members 'Mr. Linke brought in a Bell Tele- hone Directory dated 1893, which "brings the growth of local telephone business to one's realization in a most ing manner. Illustrated Journey The Young People's Society of the Church of the Ascension provided a pleasing evening's entertainment in the Parish Hall on Monday, when Mr G Y Spurr gave an interesting des- cniption of his trip to the Holy Land, illustrated by many stereopticon views made from photographs taken by Mr Spurr en route. Mr Spurr was the guest of his brother-in-law, Rev Mr Howie, who at that time was doing missionary work for the Presbytenan Church in Palestine and was living at Mount Lebanon. Mr Howie died last June, but the family remains in Palestine. out of the ordinary.
