S-------------- OBITUARY MRS. JAMES GOUDY Mrs. James Goudy, sr, who pass< ed away on Thesday March 19, 1912, at Pert Perry, was born in County Cavan, Ireland, 76 years ago. Her maiden vame was Jane Brown, and the family came 'to Reach when deceased was a child: In 1856 Jane Brown was married to James Goudy also of Reach Town- ship, and they lived on the farm for seven years before they moved to Scugog in 1861 being among the first settlers on the Island. Eleven children were born 'to them, eight of whom' are still living. ""In'the year 1882 Mr; Goudy died at Scugog, and ten years later the family moved to Port Perry, where Mrs Goudy lived until her dedth last week. Naturally in a pioneer life such as Mrs, Goudy lived, there 'wotld be plenty of 'difficulties to face Nor would life at first be made easy with a large family of small child- ren. But the difficulties were over come with patience and quiet good bumer, and in the evening of life the children grew to be. their mother's comfort 'and pleasure They are her record of life. Mrs. Goudy was a member 'of the Methodist Church and carri her Christian life' into' every day affairs doing the kindly #fc's of neighborliness where they were needed.
