PORT PERRY BAND Over at Utica they are organiz- ing a baud, at Greenbank they have a 'band; Myrtle Station has a Mins- trel troupe; Port Perry has some fine band instruments, but no baad. Surely enough music lovers can be found in our town to start the band again. There are quite a few men such as Mv. Roach; Mr. Short Mr, Powers, Mr. Doubt, Mr. Rob- erts, Mr. Willams, Mr. M. Letcher, My. Vaneamp, Mr, Bruton. and others; who could do much to give encouragement to young players. It. would take time to. get things going again as they used to be; but itdoes not seem right that Port Perry should have to send to neigh- boring villages and hamlets to sé cure bands. ; Our Councillors might get into touch with all who can play band instruments and all who wonld be willing to learn. ? 5 This might not be accomplished by calling a public meeting but wonld likely require individual in- vitation. The town does not seem complete without a band, and it is a pity to take it for granted that we cannot have one in Port Perry, Mr. Art Dowson will continue to de horseshoeing at his premises" on Water St. in addition 'to carryiug on his livery business.
