Two bright, energetic workers from Cannington, whose Union is only a few months old, were present, anxious to learn of ways and means of carrying on their work. The special feature of the after- noon session was an excellent address by Trs Hitchcox,, of The Lord's Day Alllance. The text on which she based hhr remarks was, " The battle is* the Lord's and He wiil give us the victory." The speaker gave a brief summary of the work done by the temper- ance forces in the past, of what they are doing now, and what they are going to do in the future Shd gave many an interesting epi- sode in connection with her lecture tour throngh the United States. In one town the first man to cast a vote for local option on election day was an hotelkeeper, not a saloon keeper, as in the States the bar is not kept in connection with the hotels but if a thing relegated to the outskirts of the town. The address, given in clear, ringing tones, was well received, and will be long remembered by! those who had the pleasure of bearing it. In the evening, Rev. R M. Hamilton deiivered a remarkable address to a large and appreciative audience. The choir of the church rendered suitable music. Several solos were much enjoyed during the afternoon and evening sessions } ; The Convention was most hog- pitably entertained both at noon and evening in the basement -of| the church by the ladies of Whit-. by Union, 5 Next year the Unions will mee in convention at Post Perry, to be entertained by the ladies of Port Perrv and Prince Albert Unions, MRS.
