P. it will be no less honest and fair to attribute the rise te the same influence, The Globe of the 13th with its usual honesty makes a palaver over some special cause which has contributed to this most encouraging rise in stocks, that special cause he says is not the N. P. but during the fall of these stocks, he asserted with a face as long as a fence rail that the N. P. was doing the work. Something Interesting to Farmers. We have much plesure in calling the at- tention of farmers to the new advertisement elsewhere in this issue,of the Brown & Patter- son Manufacturing Company, Whitby. Every farmer in the land should read the advertisement and consider the facts set forth whether at present in want of a machine or not. 1t is of vital importance to farmers that they should kmow which are really the best machines and there is now neither risk nor mystery about it--dont fail to read the Advertisement; Though the "Witty Harvester" is very extensively known and those who know anything of it would not touch another reaper still it is not yet in the hands of all our farmers as it certainly would be if all of them knew its decided superiority over all other reapers. The advertisement sets forth this in a way which cannot be disputed. Choice material superior constraction, light draught, great strength, good work in all kinds of grain are among the qualities which farmers require in reapers--See what the advertisement says on those points. The "Cayuga Chief jr" and "Young Canada" mowers the manufacture of the Brown & Patterson Manufacturing Co., Whitby, occupy the front ranks amongst mowers, are preferr- ed by all farmers who have tried them and as now improved they have no equal--Read the advertisement and see their « Whitby Gleaner " Patent Hay Rake. The individual or firm who by ingenuity, perseverance and it may be at much expense succeeds in placing in the hands of farmers a machine as complete ascan well be oxpect- ed, p ing all the points of excellence q ina hioe and superior to all other machines of the kind yet produced is # general benefacfor to the farming com. munity and an important agent in raising our agricultural interests to that position to which their importance entitles them.-- ~ of the town a full appreciation of the honor conforred by making this the grand centre of so important a gathering and every necessary effort was put forth to make things agree- able for the expected visitors, and neither labor nor expense was re. garded as anything in making such preparations as make things pleas- ant to our visitors. In andition to the very extensive accommodation supplied by our hotels, extensive additional prepara- tions wore made to accommodate all comers. Mr. Ruddy added table accommo- dation for over three hundred; Mr. Dewart prepared additional accom- modation for nearly one hundred; Mr. Cook increased his dining ac- commodation to a large extent.-- Mr. Haslam opened out his dining hall to its full extent. Mr. Hallett made ample preparation for the large addition to his guests, and the C. M. Church fitted up and threw open for the accommodation of visit- ors the basement of the town hall, Everything being propared all waited to recoive and welcome the numerous expected visitors, Orange- men, Young Britons, Troe Blues and the large number of ladies and gentlemen who should come in only as spectators and aid the celebration by their presence and approving smiics, Al guile an eaily "hour carriages containing ladies and geu- tlemen came pouring in from every quarter, worthy fathers and mothers, active sons and fair danghters from a large coxtent of the surrounding Country came to participate in one way or another in the celebra- tion of the anniversary if it wore only by giving the sanction of their presence. The Orange Brethren, O.Y, B's and T. B's be- gan to arrive in good time und the air was soon filled with the martial music from the numerous Brass Bands and Fife and Drum Bands accompanying the several lodges, -- Cars from the north and cars from the south came rolling in with their long trains filled with members of the Order and their friends. From places not connected with this by rail long lines of carriages bringing the members and their friends camo in and landed their welcome freights one after another. Now the whistle of the "Vaderbilt" is heard as she steams up the luke with a full cargo of celobrators, Orangemen, O. Y. B'sand their numerous friends, The Battalion Band, Co.
