"Our semifinal win in CWOSSA made us really proud of ourselves. We didn't even think any of this would be a reality for us," said Sherman. In the finals, the Highlanders dropped the game against the Brantford Mustangs 43-31. Madison Sherman, a Grade 12 guard, said the team has become more of a family after growing through different grades. "It's our teamwork," said Sherman. "We've really grown to know each other as a team, and as friends and best friends; and we really know how we play and act, and it affects how we communicate to each other, which is really important to our team." For Bamberger, the team seems to be in good hands, with seven Grade 11 players set to return. "It's really strong. I'm really impressed with the younger girls and their composure. It can be really stressful being on big stages like this … I know they're only going to get better in the future." Laurier basketball comes up short The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women's basketball team had their two- game winning streak snapped on Satur- day evening as they lost 72-59 to the Ryer- son Rams. Out-rebounded 55-37, Laurier strug- gled against the size of Ryerson, and in particular, 6-4 forward Sofia Paska. The fourth-year Etobicoke native led the charge for the Rams, producing 29 points and 15 rebounds. Th e Hawks were paced by Nicole Mor- rison who led the team in the three most noteworthy categories, fi nishing with 22 points along with eight rebounds and four assists. Th e fi fth-year guard was lights out from the foul-line, knocking down all ten of her attempts and continues to sit sec- ond in conference scoring, averaging 20.2 points per game.
