Why It's Important to You Safety concerns with motor vehicles significantly limit cycling. If the pilot project is successful, people on bikes will feel safer on Regional roads, and people in vehicles should also experience benefits from the separated lanes. Silver Lake is a unique element that has provided recreational amenity and picturesque aesthetic for the Park since 1890, making it a central feature of the City of Waterloo. As the community around the Park has grown, so have the services to Waterloo Park and the impacts on its features. The study to rehabilitate Silver Lake and Laurel Creek is following the requirements under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process. Public Information Centre (PIC) #2 is being held to present information on the existing conditions of Silver Lake and Laurel Creek, a list of potential alternative solutions, and the process that will be used to evaluate the alternatives in order to determine the preferred solution. The results of the evaluation process and the recommended solution will be presented at PIC #3, planned for Spring 2018. City staff and members of Stantec and CH2M HILL will be available to answer questions, and to receive input and comments from interested members of the community.
