NOTICE OF THE PASSING OF A ZONING BY-LAW 2050 UNIVERSITY AVENUE EAST (Z-17-10) Take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Waterloo passed By-law No. 2017-070, on November 6, 2017, under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990. And take notice that any person or agency may appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board in respect of this By-law by filing with the Clerk of the Corporation of the City of Waterloo not later than December 6, 2017, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the By-law and the reasons in support of the objection, accompanied by a fee of $300.00, made payable to the Minister of Finance, as prescribed under the Ontario Municipal Board Act. EXPLANATORY NOTE By-law No. 2017-070 amends By-law No. 1418, being a Zoning By-law controlling land use development within the City of Waterloo. The purpose of this by-law is to create a new Employment One (E1) zone in By-law No. 1418, and to rezone the property at 2050 University Avenue East from Agriculture (A) to Employment One (E1) with site specific provisions related to permitted uses, setbacks, and building height. Hospice ofWaterloo Region (HWR) intends to construct a ±2,185 square metre building at 2050 University Avenue East for a hospice (including office, administrative services, volunteer services, medical clinic, and palliative care beds). The large property can accommodate additional development, however HWR has no immediate plans for the balance of the property. The event, which runs between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., will transform the safety edu- cation facility into a winter wonderland that will give visi- tors an opportunity to listen to a story with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, take part in sea- sonal arts and crafts and stroll through the village lit up in sparkling Christmas lights. Tickets to visit the Christ- mas event are being sold online via Eventbrite, with staggered entry times to avoid lineups. Th e event is expected to sell out beforehand.
