- Ontario is reporting 1,074 new cases — the lowest daily increase since March 5 when 990 cases were reported. The seven-day average of daily cases has decreased by 16 to 1,334. Today’s new cases include 25 more cases of the B.1.1.7 UK variant, for a total of 1,131, and 2 more cases of the B.1.351 South Africa variant, for a total of 46. The R(t) value for variants of concern — the average number of new infections caused by a single infected individual at a specific time (t) in a partially immunized population — has decreased by 0.03 to 1.38. In the greater Kawarthas region, there are 13 new cases to report and an additional 16 cases resolved, with the number of active cases across the region decreasing by 2 to 97.
