March 15, 2021: Daily COVID Update

Ontario is reporting 1,268 new cases, with the seven-day average of daily cases decreasing by 51 to 1,350. Today’s new cases include 70 more cases of the B.1.1.7 UK variant, for a total of 1,106. The R(t) value for variants of concern — the average number of new infections caused by a single infected individual at a specific time (t) in a partially immunized population — has increased by 0.12 to 1.41. In the greater Kawarthas region, there are 10 new cases to report and an additional 17 cases resolved, with the number of active cases across the region decreasing by 9 to 99.
