Officials at Caressant Care on McLaughlin Road in Lindsay said they tested for the coronavirus variant at the facility and all came back negative so far.

The variant was said to be more contagious than the original virus, although it was not thought to be any more deadly.

The news came as the total number of cases at the home had grown to over 50.
