- Ontario's finance minister resigned from his position after a December 2020 holiday trip to St. Barts in the Caribbean as the rest of the province was told to stay home, make no non-essential trips, and spend the Christmas holidays with only their own household members.
Phillips disguised his actions with scheduled social media postings that suggested he was still in Ajax.
Premier Ford first stated he had not known about Phillips' trip then later retracted this to say that he had known about Phillips leaving Canada.
